SCIENTIFIC ADVISORS

PolarCool’s scientific advisors are important sources of knowledge and information for the company and are consulted regularly on medical and scientific issues that arise in the business. Furthermore, the knowledge of the advisors serves as an important factor during the product development process to ensure that PolarCool’s products and services meet the required standards of the medical field.

The Advisory Board was founded in January 2019 with the ambition of strengthening PolarCool’s international network by linking leading experts in sports medicine and neurology as advisors to the company’s research activities.

Professor Niklas Marklund

Niklas Marklund, Professor of Neurosurgery at Lund University and Uppsala University, is one of the leading researchers in the field of experimental and clinical traumatic brain injury and has in recent years specialised in the field of sports concussion. He is the Trauma Section Chair of the European Association of Neurosurgical Societies (EANS), member of the Neurotrauma committee of the World Federation of Neurological Surgery (WFNS) and co-founder of the European Neurotrauma organisation (ENO).

Professor Emeritus Yelverton Tegner

Yelverton Tegner, MD, is Professor Emeritus in Sports Medicine and specialist in orthopedics. He has since the 1970’s conducted research in sports medicine and concussions in particular and is internationally renowned in the subject. Professor Tegner has served as team doctor in for several sports teams, including Luleå Hockey, the Swedish national women’s football team, Plannja Basketball, and the Swedish national women’s basketball team.
